Book Club Newton Women's Forum has an active book club that meets monthly in member's homes for appetizers, dessert and wine provided by attendees. Reading selections are voted on by members and discussions are lively! Annual highlights include our holiday book swap in December and book club at the beach in August. Social Events Newton Women's Forum hosts a variety of social events throughout the year. We begin the membership year in mid-September at a Backyard Kickoff Party where we welcome new members and catch up with old friends. Past social events have included a Holiday Party, Progressive Dinner and Wine and Cheese Party. Salon Salon is an engaging, conversational gathering where we meet in different member's homes to discuss a topic introduced by short articles or TED Talks. Past topics have included "Why a Sense of Humor is a Life Skill" and "How to Invest Your Energy More Wisely." Cookbook Review Cookbook Review is a chance for foodies who love to experiment with new recipes and cooking styles to show what they can do! The host selects a cookbook or food blog and attendees select, prepare and bring a dish. A diverse selection of food is the center of attention as we taste and compare dishes. Transitions Group The Transitions Group meets monthly to enjoy a tasty potluck lunch or dinner together in a member's home. Topics of conversation are determined by the interests and needs of attendees. Discussions are thoughtful and engaging as we support each other through life's stages, including new careers and hobbies. Community Outreach Newton Women's Forum has raised donations for The Second Step homeless shelter in Newton, the Newton Free Library and Room to Grow, a nonprofit that provides baby essentials for low-income families. |
